Weaving a story of his musical life with a golden thread of celebrity, PETER ASHER told the story of his adventures in music from Whimple Street to his Indica Book Shop and beyond to signing acts to Apple Records at the Canyon Club on 5/19. Asher is known as a half of the singing duo PETER & GORDON from the sixties. Asher performed several of his former hit songs amid his quaint musings at the Canyon Club. The attending crowd were visibly older and informed about Asher’s accomplishments. There was much laughter as Asher presented clips from their many television performances, and there also were lots of ah-ha moments as Asher spun his stories such as Asher’s Indica Book Store in London where John Lennon met Yoko Ono. Asher also reminded his audience that back then, the rock n’ roll industry was there to support the classical music industry…a fact that NFTF had long ago forgotten. This fact is like being told that television shows are not important to the stations and that they exist only to fill in the air time between commericals which were the whole point of television. This show is well worth the cost of a ticket and the investment of time as you will walk away richer for the investment. Check your local listings or google Asher.
