The Monkies lead singer Davy Jones has died of a heart attack at his horse stable in Florida of a heart attack. Jones had been getting ready to go on tour with two other Monkies members in June and is survived by his 36 -year-old widow and four daughters from other marriages. Jones had been married three times. Jones had been on the same bill as The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show and saw all of the screaming fans and decided that he would like that to be his calling. He was performing a bit as the artful dodger on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Monkies made Jones a household name and many a young female heart was stolen by Jones back in the day. None of the band members played musical instruments when they first started the campy show which featured them in comedy situations and singing a myriad of songs such as Valorie, Last Train To Clarksville, and Star Collector.
