Patti Smith began rocking NFTF’s Music Maven back in the early 80’s with “Easter” and hasn’t stopped impressing since. At that time, her Ghost Dance song really held a lot of deep spiritual meaning and has stayed with Music Maven right up till now. Imagine NFTF’s Music Maven’s joy to find out that Patti Smith is performing a 1 hour show at Amoeba Records in Hollywood on 10/11 6pm to 7pm…WOW!
How many remember her album “Easter” and how she set us all free with her punk stylings to “Rock N’ Roll N, Babellogue and Ghost Dance (We Shall Live Again)”! “Baby was a Black sheep, baby was a whore, baby got big and she’s gonna get bigger.” “I am an American artist” she proudly proclaimed on the LP.
This time out she’ll be performing new material for a live webcast off of her new effort “Banga” NFTF has huge expectations for Smith and we hope that she’ll not disappoint. This new effort will be available on CD as well as LP, and she’ll sign it for you if you choose to purchase a copy.
If you are on Facebook, Amoeba has scheduled the event there which lists her band members and tells of a special friendship with actor and fellow rocker Johnny Depp. Check it out if you want to see who is coming.
NFTF’s Music Maven is very curious about her origins and thinks that mayhaps she is part Cheyenne. This is of interest because of the “Ghost Dance” song and the “Native” representation on “Banga”
